Hermès Louis XV Silk Twill Scarf - A Hermès silk twill scarf in the Louis XV pattern, originally designed by artist Philippe Ledoux and first issued in 1971. This square scarf, known as a carre, is constructed from 100% silk twill featuring a visible diagonal weave. The composition is centered on a portrait of King Louis XV within an ornate foliate frame topped with a crown and flanked by two putti. Surrounding the central image are six circular vignettes depicting equestrian figures and scenes of 18th-century courtly life. The design is set against a chocolate brown ground with a cream-colored lattice and fleur-de-lis pattern, bordered by elaborate scrollwork. The bottom center features a printed cartouche with the transcription HERMES. PARIS and a copyright symbol. The scarf is finished with hand-rolled and hand-stitched edges rolled toward the front. 34.5 inches by 34.5 inches (88 cm by 88 cm).
