Bidspirit auction | Hermès Joies d'Hiver Silk Jacquard
Hermès Joies d'Hiver Silk Jacquard Scarf - This Hermès 90cm square scarf features the Joies d'Hiver (Joys of Winter) pattern, designed by Joachim Metz and first issued in 1992. This example is a rare silk jacquard version, characterized by a tone-on-tone woven pattern of ice skaters integrated into the silk background, visible in both the cream center and navy borders. The central illustration depicts an 19th-century winter scene with various figures in period costumes ice skating on a frozen pond. The scene is bordered by an octagonal frame decorated with snowflake motifs and stylized leaves. The outer border is a deep navy blue with gold and green acanthus-style scrollwork at each corner. Printed markings include the title Joies d'Hiver in a decorative scroll at the top, HERMES-PARIS within a golden cartouche at the bottom right, and a copyright symbol followed by HERMES printed vertically along the inner border on the left side. The scarf features hand-rolled and hand-stitched edges. A white fabric care label is attached to one corner, reading MADE IN FRANCE / 100% SILK / DRY CLEAN ONLY on one side and FABRIQUÉ EN FRANCE / 100% SOIE on the reverse. Approximately 35 x 35 inches.
