Manuscript of Chidushim from
Rabbi Yehonoson Eibishitz

Metz 1750
*
Important manuscript of Chidushei Torah by Rabbi Yehonoson Eibishitz author of Urim VeTumim and Yearos Devash, with never-before- published material in halacha and aggada (see below).

The manuscript contains 289 pages of Chidushei Torah by the great Gaon Rabbi Yehonoson Eibishitz, includes chidushim on talmud, chidushim on chumash, responses in halacha, derashos, hespedim, and special piyutim.
The manuscript also includes replicas of the text found on ancient tombstones in Pappenheim (see below).

New Discoveries and Findings:

Two unknown responses in halacha! 1 a teshuvah on the topic of Even Haezer a response to a question from his talmid Rabbi Elyokum Getshlik Vonfreiden Ab”d of Kunitz , the other teshuvah is regarding a Shofar engraved with the sacred name of Hashem.

Two unknown compositions revealed here for the very first time of poems composed by Rabbi Yehonoson Eibishitz one; praising Hashem’s greatness and kindness - Ato Elokim BaShomayim UvEretz [you are the G-od of the heaven and earth]. The second song praises the Torah. It is titled “Toras Hashem Temima ”.

Additionally, to the best of our knowledge, throughout the manuscript there are chidushim in halacha and aggada never-seen-before.

Also, There are multiple differences from the known printed version in the wording and in the titles of the Derashos. Three derashos that were printed in Yaaros Devash (for example the title in the manuscript written on page 7a stated ‘this was delivered in 1745 (which is the accurate date) in contrast to was printed in Yaaros Devash Vol. 1 Derush 13 were it dates the derasha to 1746. The title in the manuscript written on page 86b is more detailed then what is printed in Yaros Devash Vol. 2 Derush 3.

Was known throughout the diaspora of Israel for his profound genius, his sharpness, his righteousness and holiness, whose name is carried in adoration and admiration beyond comparison by all the generations. Every expression of praise was tied to his name, until the 'Yishmach Moshe' said that if he would live in the generation of the Rambam and the Rashba he would have been like them (Chayei Yonason O’ 25)

The Admor of Komarna wrote in the name of his Rabbe Rabbi Tzvi Hersh of Zidichov that he said 'On the genius of the man of Hashem, our Rabbi Yehonatan, who merited to see Eliyahu Ha’Novie [prophet], who is capable of uttering his praises??, It would be an honor for me to be the dust under his feet' (Netiv Mitzvotich, The Path of Faith, Chapter 6)
