Splendid Set of Machzorim for Yom Kippur in Leather Bindings with Silver Clasps Livorno, 1797 * Magnificent set of machzorim for Yom Kippur prayers in five volumes. Bound in five identical bindings made of red leather, with multiple gold engravings and ten silver clasps for closure - all in perfect condition. At the center of the front and back cover is a beautiful embossed design depicting two violins in the center, along with the engraved name of the original owner: Rignano Giuditta. Without a doubt, this exquisite craftsmanship was created as a gift for for a distinguished figure from a prestigious Italian Jewish family. The emblem embossed on the covers likely represents the family crest, as was customary in the past. The Prayer of the Holy Ohr HaChaim In each volume of the machzor (except the first), the holy prayer composed by Rabbi Chaim ben Attar, the holy Ohr HaChaim, is printed, to be recited while the chazzan recites ”Vaya'avor, ” before the recital of the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy.
