Fundamental Kabbalistic Sefer Tikkunei HaZohar First Edition. Mantua, 1558 * Sefer 'Tikkunei HaZohar' by the holy Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. The sefer encompasses the seventy ways (shivin anpin) of explaining the first word in the Torah, ”Bereishis.” With these seventy explanations, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai revealed the foundations of the Hidden Torah. 'Tikkunei HaZohar' is inseparable from the Sefer HaZohar, and it is mentioned in the latter in Parshas Ki Savo. (See the preface to 'Kisei Melech' which explains why it was called Tikkunim.) This is the first edition of 'Tikkunei HaZohar', printed in Mantua at the same time the first edition of the Zohar in Mantua was printed. The first pages of the sefer contain four halachic rulings and declarations by famous Italian Rabbis permitting the printing of the Zohar and its Tikkunim and allowing kabbalistic teachings to be publicized to the public. In the printer's remarks at the end of the sefer, there is an interesting overview reflecting the debates and arguments for and against the study of kabbalah in Italy during that period. The present work was printed and edited by Rabbi Emanuel Benvenito, author of 'Levias Chen'. Mantua, 1558. First edition. Page count: [4], 146, [2] leaves. Page size: 21 cm.
