Manuscript Toras Brisk Shiurim of Reb Chaim of Brisk and his son Reb Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik with Unknown Material. Brisk, c. 1925. * Manuscript of ”Chiddushei Torah from the Gaon Reb Chaim zt”l and his son the Gaon Reb Yitzchok Zev shlit”a”. This notebook contains 119 pages of chiddushei Torah, showcasing 34 in-depth discourses predominantly focused on the masechtos in Kodshim. It was composed by a student of the Brisker Rav during his time studying in Brisk. The material includes entirely new insights derived from the teachings of Reb Chaim and Reb Yitzchok Zev, alongside substantial variations and enhancements to previously published shiurim. It is well-known that in Brisk, they paid meticulous attention to every detail and wording associated with Reb Chaim and the Brisker Rav’s teachings. Approximately twenty years ago, Rabbi Shimon Yosef Meller, shlit”a, presented this notebook to his rebbi, Rabbi Meir Halevi Soloveitchik, the son of the Brisker Rav. After examining its contents, Rabbi Soloveitchik acknowledged that: “There are definitely new shticklach (insights) here. Additionally, in many places, additional words were inserted that completely change the understanding of the matter (and greatly add to the understanding of already published insights) even in well-known pieces. There are also completely new concepts here!” He later revisited the manuscript with his son, Reb Velvel, and noted that he encountered several shticklach for the first time.  Rabbi Soloveitchik explained that the shiurim given by his father in Brisk were broader, more thoroughly elaborated, and significantly longer than those he delivered in Eretz Yisrael, underscoring the manuscript's immense importance. I, pp. 522–524.)  see here The shiurim of the Brisker Rav were documented by a student who sat in front of him while he spoke, using phrases like: “And the Rav shlit”a said… And the Rav answered… And this is what the Rav shlit”a asked about Reb Chaim zt”l, ” and similar expressions. Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik (1853-1918), known simply as ”Reb Chaim”, was a leading Torah giant of the last generation and served as the Av Beis Din of Brisk. He was considered ”the father of the Yeshiva world”, having pioneered an entirely new system and approach to Torah study. His penetrating analyses and succinct definitions became the bedrock of Torah study ever since. His illustrious son, Rabbi Yitzchok Zev HaLevi Soloveitchik, the Brisker Rav (1887–1960) , followed in his father's path. His shiurim in Brisk drew the finest minds from all the Lithuanian yeshivos, particularly his shiurim on Kodshim—a subject which until then had not been studied in yeshivas and which have almost no works on them by the Rishonim and major Achronim. It was in Brisk that these sugyos were reopened, explored, and reborn with clarity and depth through their unique method of Torah study. It was then passed down to generations of Bnei Torah. It is told that the Chofetz Chaim once visited Brisk and stayed in Reb Chaim’s home, where he noticed the young Reb Yitzchok Zev learning Maseches Zevachim. The saintly sage encouraged him: “Learn, learn—one day you will be the only one in the market who truly understands these matters, and all will come to you to learn Kodshim.” Description of the Manuscript: Page count: [1], 59 leaves (119 pages).
