Letter of blessings by Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Twersky of Skver announcing the engagement of his only son New Square, 1959 * A sacred treasure. A letter in the holy handwriting of the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Twersky of Skver, addressed to his mechutan, the Admor Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmastrivka, in which he announces the engagement of his only son, the present Rebbe of Skver, shlita. Complete and full letters entirely in the holy handwriting of the Rebbe are extremely rare and highly sought after. At the beginning of the letter is a mazal tov blessing on the birth of their grandson, a son to the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Twersky of Rachmastrivka. Overflowing with joy over the birth of the grandson, the Rebbe pours forth blessings: “May we merit to derive pleasure and nachas from him and from all our offspring. May Hashem help that from this joy there be bestowed joy and nachas and worthy matches for all our descendants, in accordance with the glory of our holy forebears, zechusam yagen aleinu.” He concludes with the blessing: “Hashem should help to hear and to announce good tidings and good salvations, as is His will and the will of your relative, your mechutan, who blesses you with all good. Yaakov Yosef son of the holy tzaddik our teacher and rebbe Harav Dovid zt”l.” The letter was sent to his mechutan, the Admor Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmastrivka (1903–1982). At the beginning of the letter is a mazal tov blessing on the occasion of the birth of their mutual grandson, the son of the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Twersky of Rachmastrivka, of blessed memory. The Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Twersky of Rachmastrivka (1931–2023), son of Rabbi Yochanan of Rachmastrivka, was named after his grandfather, Rabbi Yitzchak of Skver. In 1954 he was taken as a son-in-law by the Admor Rabbi Yaakov Yosef of Skver, and from then on became his disciple, cleaving to him all his life. Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Twersky (1899–1968) was one of the great tzaddikim of the last generation. He served as Rebbe from 1925, succeeding his father, Rabbi Dovid of Skver, son of Rabbi Yitzchak of Skver. In 1948 he emigrated to the United States, and in 1957 he established the city of New Square for his chassidim, in order to separate from the spiritual dangers of New York City. His father-in-law was Rabbi Pinchas of Ostilla, son-in-law of the Maharid of Belz. His son is, as mentioned, the present Rebbe of Skver shlita, who married in 1959 the daughter of the Yeshuos Moshe of Vizhnitz. New Square, 1959. Official stationery. Size: 14 × 21.7 cm.
