Sefer Raziel HaMalach Amsterdam, 1701. First Edition. A Segulah for Protection * A sefer segulah for having children and for protection from all harm. An early kabbalistic work discussing the Heavenly Bodies and angels, the secrets of creation, amulets, and the invocation of angels, spirits and demons. According to what is stated on the title page and in the introduction, these secrets were given to Adam HaRishon by the angel Raziel. The sefer is famous as a segulah and a source of protection simply through its presence in one's home. To the best of Genazym’s knowledge, this is the first sefer in the world to explicitly state in print that it serves as a protection and a segulah. Many have sought the origin of this segulah, and here it is — written explicitly on the title page of the first edition before us: “It is an effective segulah for every household in Yisrael: to merit seeing sons and grandsons who are wise and understanding; for success and blessing; to extinguish a fire in the home; and to prevent a destructive force or harmful spirit from dwelling in his midst. Whoever keeps this holy, precious and awe-inspiring sefer stored and hidden together with his silver and gold in his treasury — in times of illness and times of distress, it will bring him speedy salvation. All Torah-observant Jews will attest to this.” Amsterdam, 1701. First edition. Page Count: 45 leaves. Size: 23 cm. Condition: Good. Title page with a decorative border and numerous illustrations throughout the sefer. Several stains. Impressive new leather binding.
