Rare Hutter Tehillim – in Hollow-Letters.  Hamburg, 1602. Interleaved Copy. * An important and rare edition of Tehilim, not seen by the greatest bibliographers and not found in the National Library of Israel. The Hollow-Letters This Sefer Tehillim was edited by Elias Hutter, professor of Hebrew at the University of Leipzig, who sought to unite textual clarity with grammatical instruction. To that end, he developed his hollow-letter system, in which root letters are printed in outline -hollow font, while grammatical elements appear in solid type, allowing the structure of Hebrew to be grasped at a glance. This system had already been introduced in Hutter’s Hollow-Letters Tanach, printed in 1587, and is here applied independently to Sefer Tehillim. A significant and exceedingly rare edition, absent from the National Library of Israel, and recorded in the Institute for Hebrew Bibliography based on the copy held by the British Library. Hamburg, 1602 Page Count: [128] leaves. Size: 27.7 cm. Condition: A fine copy with wide margins. Old calfskin binding. An interleaved copy with a blank leaf inserted between each printed page.
