Exceptionally Rare Letter Entirely Handwritten and Autographed by the Admor Rabbi Yisroel of Chortkov * A remarkable letter, entirely handwritten by the Admor Rabbi Yisroel of Chortkov sent to the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Horowitz, Rav of Stryi and Stanislav, author of Harei Besamim. Letters entirely handwritten in the Rebbe's handwriting are exceedingly few and exceptionally rare. The letter was written in 1897, during the lifetime of his father, and he alludes to him in his signature with the blessing of life: “Yisrael ben Mori ve’Rabi Dovid Moshe sheyichyeh” — an extraordinarily rare signature. It includes words of thanks for the sending of his sefer Shu”t Harei Besamim, together with words of blessing expressed in a fine, eloquent style, concluding with the blessing: “May Hashem add to you strength and vigor to toil in His Torah with abundance and happiness, for many years.” The Admor Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Chortkov (1854–1934) was the son of Rabbi Dovid Moshe of Chortkov and grandson of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, after whom he was named. He was one of the greatest leaders of chareidi Jewry of his time and one of the heads of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisrael, together with the Chofetz Chaim and the Imrei Emes. Under his noble and regal leadership, the Chortkov Chassidus flourished and became one of the prominent chassidic courts of Galicia. Rabbi Aryeh Leib Horowitz , author of Harei Besamim, was close to Rabbi Yisrael’s father, the Admor Rabbi Dovid Moshe of Chortkov. Chortkov, 1897 . Leaf size: 14 × 22 cm. It appears that this stationery, bearing his distinctive seal at the top, is not known. (The date is inferred from the adjacent letter of his father Lot 23) ---------------------------- Any inquiries about this lot? We are also available on WhatsApp >>>
