Teshuva by Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum of Satmar, London, 1955 Handwritten and Autographed * A complete and full teshuva in the handwriting and with the holy signature of the Admor Rabbi Yoel of Satmar, expressing strong words against appointing “rabbanim and dayanim who are ignorant, unfit, and have no knowledge whatsoever of Torah.” The Rebbe was staying in London on his way to a visit to Eretz Yisrael in the year 1955. While there, he paid a visit to the home of Suleiman Sassoon, and at that time Chacham Sassoon raised before him the question of the appointment of rabbanim and dayanim in London. According to what is known to us, this teshuva was prepared for him in response to that matter. The teshuva is arranged with a variety of sources, with remarkable mastery, as was his way, and he adds: “And there is much more to speak about this, and to bring from the words of Chazal and the poskim, but I am unable to elaborate here at length, due to many disturbances and concerns.” He concludes with the blessing: “And may the Holy One, blessed be He, grant us the merit to expand the boundary of holiness and to increase Torah and make it glorious, until we merit soon to see the salvation of all Yisrael and their rejoicing with the joy of Tzion and Yerushalayim, speedily in our days, Amen.” London, Rosh Chodesh Tammuz 1955 . Official letterhead, written on both sides of the page. Two full pages, in the Divrei Yoel's holy handwriting and with his signature. Condition: Good. Printed based on this manuscript in Shu”t Divrei Yoel, volume II, siman 129. -------------------------------- Any inquiries about this lot? We are also available on WhatsApp >>>
