Once, when a Halachic response from the Chasam Sofer was sent to Rabbi Mardechi Banet, he studied it for some time. When those around him inquired if there was a problem, he replied that no, he was studying the response because ”just looking at the holy handwriting is a segula for Heavenly fear.” Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Krakow, author of the Michtav Sofer, would peruse handwritten letter from his holy father before making important decisions in the Austrian Parliament.
