NEFESH CHAYA'S HASKAMAH WHICH ONLY APPEARS IN ONE EDITION OF MISHNA BERURA, FIRST PRINT OF MISHNA BERURA, 2 DISTINCT VARIATIONS! WARSAW 1884 - Mishna Berurah Part One. First edition and second variant edition. With the rare approbation of The Nefesh Chaya. Warsaw 1882-1884. · First edition published in 1882. Includes one page of presubscribers, as well as a warning from the Chafetz Chaim not to publish his Sefer without permission. · Second edition published in 1882. This edition includes a rare approbation written by R. Chaim Elazar Wachs (Nefesh Chaya). Curiously, this approbation does not appear in subsequent editions. It is assumed that the Chofetz Chaim met the Nefesh Chaya in Warsaw while printing the Mishna Berura, and out of respect asked for an approbation which he included in the editions which were not yet printed, however the Nefesh Chaya's approbation was merely a blessing and attestment to the Chofetz Chaim's piety. Hence, in the next edition, which was printed after the Nefesh Chaya's passing, it was omitted. In addition, the title page differs, with one listing the printers name, and the other listing the name of people who assisted. These editions also contain a warning at the end that it not be printed without permission, which was omitted in later copies.
