Considered one of the best midfielders of his generation, he grew up in the youth sector of Cagliari, with whom he made his professional debut in 2015. In 2019 he moved to Inter, with whom he won two Italian championships (2020-2021 and 2023-2024), two Italian Cups (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) and three Italian Super Cups (2021, 2022 and 2023), as well as having reached a UEFA Europa League final (2019-2020) and a UEFA Champions League final (2022-2023).
