A limestone shabti of Amenhotep. - A limestone shabti of Amenhotep, Limestone with traces of color, H 20.5cm. New Kingdom. 18th dynasty, time of Thutmosis IV, 1397 - 1388 BC. Mummy-shaped with a tripartite wig and crossed hands. The hieroglyphic inscription runs in horizontal lines around the body and downwards on the shoulders. Magnificent workmanship! Broken below the knees, otherwise only tiny dents. Both Amenhotep, the owner of this shabti, and his father Tjenuna are named Barn keeper. They are both known from other documents and played an important role in the agrarian administration of the time and at times fulfilled an office that could perhaps be called Minister of Agriculture today.
