Shabti of Mes. - Shabti of Mes, wood, hieroglyphs in black, H 16,8cm. New Kingdom. 18th dynasty, post Amarna, ca. 1320 - 1300 BC. Mummy-shaped with a tripartite wig and crossed hands. The hieroglyphic inscription runs down the legs: 'The Osiris Overseer of the works of the Lord of Two Lands Mesu born of Mut, true of voice.' Mes was 'construction manager' at the temple of Karnak. Worn, intact.
