Usurped shabti of It. - Usurped shabti of It. New Kingdom, 19th dynasty, ca. 1292-1186 BC. Red clay with a white engobe, details in black, green, red and blue. H 22.2cm. Mummy-shaped with tripartite wig and two ploughs in the crossed hands. Schlögl/Brodbeck (1990), no. 74: The five-line inscription, originally painted in black and almost encircling the body, has been erased in antiquity. Enclosed in a red rectangle, parts of this inscription have been reused, but new characters have also been added. The name of the usurper must be read as Jt.f and the ntr sign now belongs to the name of the god Osiris (perhaps the first owner had the title God the Father ). The present five horizontal lines give an abbreviated form of Book of the Dead verse 6: Let it be shone upon Osiris It, O Shabti, when you count to do any work (...) The rest is destroyed by the break. Worn surface, feet broken and reattached, colours splendidly preserved.
