The hieroglyphic inscription on the front reads: Enlightenment to Osiris, the high priest and son of King Chaemwese. The back of the stele reads: Enlightenment to Osiris, the Sempriest and King's son Chaemwese, the righteous, he says: Command to this Shabti (asbtt; see Museum Leiden Inv.
