A finely carved limestone sistrum. - A finely carved limestone sistrum with the head of the goddess Hathor. Late Period, 26th dynasty, 664 - 525 BC. H 20cm. Upper part of a sistrum, with identical reliefs on both sides. Preserved is the head of Hathor, which carries a naos-shaped structure. In the structure, three transverse holes, which served to hold metal wires. In the opening of the naos rises an upright uraeus serpent. The goddess wears a richly decorated collar and a strand wig, from which her cow ears protrude. Some minor scratches and wear. Mounted. With original certificate of Gallery Puhze, copy of the invoice of 2000 and comparative material.
