Granite stone head of a priest. - Granite stone head of a priest. H 25.5cm. The features are partially graved awaiting finishing before polishing. The mouth with a slight smile, small chin and slightly rounded face. The smooth wig, partially polished, reveals the ears. The dorsal column is carved with hieroglyphs which perhaps read made for and are a continuation of text from elsewhere on the figure. Prolemaic Period, 332 - 30 BC. Unfinished, nose broken. Cracked surface partialy on the sides and on the underside. With copy of the expertise by Rupert Wace!
