Apulian red-figure squat lekythos by the Varrese Painter. - Apulian red-figure squat lekythos by the Varrese Painter. Around 350 BC. H 17.8cm, ø 8.2cm. On the front, a seated Eros with an offering bowl. Depicted in faded white was a rock seat, decorated with taenia. Muzzle broken and reattached, with small replacement, small missing part on the foot ring, fine long crack in the body. From the collection of pianist Professor Detlef Kraus (1919-2008), acquired in the 1960s to the early 1970s.
