Small Attic black-figure Little Master cup. - Small Attic black-figure Little Master cup. Around 540 BC. H 10.1cm, W with handles 21cm, ø bowl 15.1cm. Band cup with clay-ground figural frieze below the offset rim. Gigantomachy around the frieze. On one side, Athena and Zeus are seen charging forward from the left, with Ares in front of them joining the action in a chariot. To the right, Hecate attacks Klytios from behind with her torches, and to the side of the handle, Poseidon slays the giant Polybotes with the island of Nisyros. On the other side, in the center, Dionysos, crowned with ivy, fights with Eurytos, and further to the right, Hesphaistos kills the kneeling giant Mimas with red-hot iron. Small details are painted in white and red. Assembled from fragments, one larger defect in the handle area and smaller ones retouched at the broken edges.
