Large Greek statuette of a girl with a wreath. - Large Greek statuette of a girl with a wreath. Magna Graecia, late 3rd - early 2nd century BC. H 27.5cm and with base 31.5cm. Light brown terracotta with white slip, traces of green paint. Matrix-formed with elaborate cold work. The young, very slender woman is dressed in a tight-fitting chiton and himation and stands in a complicated contrapposto position on a round, profiled base. Large ivy wreath rests in her hair, parted at the front. In her cloaked hand, there is a small hole where a fan or similar object once stood. Rectangular firing hole is located at the back. Tiny bumps on some ivy leaves, otherwise intact.
