Young satyr with apron filled with fruit. - Young satyr with apron filled with fruit. Roman Imperial Period, 2nd century AD. White, fine-crystalline marble, H 68 cm. The companion of Dionysus is of boyish stature. He wears only an animal skin tied over his right shoulder, covering the left shoulder. The skin forms an apron on the left arm, filled with fruits. He leans with crossed feet against a tree trunk, from which a syrinx hangs and at the foot of which a small bull sits. In his right hand, he held a lagobolon, parts of which are still preserved on the right upper arm. The tree trunk and the garment are only roughly outlined and appear somewhat unfinished. However, this could also be a stylistic device, creating a deliberate contrast to the finely polished surfaces of the youthful figure. Head, lower left arm and lower left ankle broken.
