Under life-size marble head of Athena. - Under life-size marble head of Athena wearing a high corinthian helmet. Early Roman Imperial Period, 1st century AD. The piece had previously been restored and supplemented, probably in the 19th or early 20th century. Evidence of this can be seen in the prepared areas on the tip of the nose, on the front edge of the helmet, and on the neck and back of the head. The break edges on the right cheek and the tip of the helmet appear to have been left in their original condition. Acquired at Cahn in 1995.
