Herm with the head of Pan. - Herm with the head of Pan made in Giallo Antico. Roman Imperial Period, 2nd century AD. The god is depicted as follower of Dionysos wearing a wreath and a broad taenia falling down his shoulders. The bulging forehead is contracted and the eyebrows are raised and the eyes are sunken; the nose is wide and flat pressed, and the wild beard heavily drilled. The surface is weathered and the impressionistic style of the sculptor makes it hardly possible to identify minor damages. There are some cracked surfaces on the left side. Backside flat and roughly picked. With copy of the invoice!
