Marble bust of the ageing Heracles. - Marble bust of the ageing Heracles wearing the lion skin like a coat. H 15cm (without base). Roman Imperial Period, 1st century AD. Probably from a herm. Heracles is depicted with long beard and the short hair of a boxer. His shoulders are covered by his lion skin, showing the need for warmth in old age. The bust is prepared to be inserted and now mounted on the ancient top part of a column. With copy of the invoice! Front of the bust broken, slightly worn surface.
