A Late Qajar Painted Textile Depicting a Coffeehouse Scene, Dated 1307 Hijri. A richly detailed Qajar painted textile illustrating a lively Persian coffeehouse interior. At the centre, a group of bearded men in traditional attire sit and converse while drinking tea, one of whom gestures animatedly as a white-bearded dervish appears to collapse dramatically in the foreground—perhaps in spiritual ecstasy or intoxication. On the right, a server is shown pouring tea near a traditional samovar, while others in the background observe the gathering.
