A North Indian Wrestling Miniature, 19th Century. A vibrant miniature painting from North India depicting a traditional wrestling match (Kushti or Pehlwani) set against a lush green backdrop with stylised trees and clouds. Two muscular wrestlers, clad in bright red and blue loincloths, are locked in combat, their bodies entwined in a test of strength and skill. An elder or referee stands beside a tree, watching intently and holding a cloth. At their feet lie coiled turbans in red, pink, and blue, likely removed for the match.
