A Persian Steel Qur’an Stand with Gold-Damascened Inscriptions, 20th Century. A Persian steel Qur’an stand (rahl), composed of interlocking panels designed to fold and support a manuscript. The surfaces are intricately decorated with delicate gold-damascened inscriptions in Arabic, including Qur’anic verses and invocations, arranged within scrolling borders and cartouches. The arched upper section displays calligraphy framed in a pointed arch form, while the entire structure is enhanced with fine gilt floral detailing.
