A Khorassan Style Turquoise-Glazed Ceramic Elephant with Riders. A turquoise-glazed ceramic sculpture in the form of an elephant standing on a rectangular base, modelled with four sturdy legs and large circular ears. Atop the elephant sits a high openwork howdah with multiple stylized rider figures, each with abstracted forms and raised gestures. The saddle is bordered with linked circular motifs, terminating in floral-like finials at the corners. Approximately 21 x 22 x 13cm (hxlxw) Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished W London collector.
