A Mughal Bone Nutcracker Carved as a Royal Elephant, 18th Century. A Mughal nutcracker, carved from bone in the form of a majestic caparisoned elephant. The head, raised in a trumpeting posture, is adorned with incised detailing and flanked by a scaled foreleg standing in relief. The jaws open through a scissor-action hinge, with each handle segment featuring concentric circular motifs and one terminating in a stylised bird’s head.
