1652 - 1952 South African 5 Shillings coin

The 1652-1952 South African 5 Shillings coin, also known as the South Africa 5 Shillings Van Riebeeck commemorative coin, was issued to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Jan van Riebeeck's landing at the Cape of Good Hope in 1652.

The coin has a weight of 28.2g 

This coin marks the tricentennial of the establishment of a refreshment station at the Cape by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) under Jan van Riebeeck, which laid the foundation for modern-day Cape Town, it also represents a significant period in South African history, highlighting the Dutch colonial era and its long-term influence on the region.
