Fachada lateral del Palacio Xifré de Madrid - Émile Boeswillwald (Strasbourg, 1815 – Paris, 1896) “Lateral Façade of the Xifré Palace, Madrid” Ink and watercolour drawing Signed and dated in Paris, 1858 38 × 57 cm €800 – 1,000 Original drawing by the French architect Émile Boeswillwald for the Neo-Mudéjar palace commissioned by the Catalan businessman José Xifré in Madrid. The construction was carried out by the architect José Contreras. Work began in 1862 and lasted three years. The building, whose interior was inspired by the Alhambra in Granada and the Royal Alcázars of Seville, was among the most admired in Madrid at the time. Later acquired by the Dukes of Infantado, it was ultimately demolished in the mid-1950s.
