”The Responsible One!... – Anti-Nazi satirical scene – 1945 Pencil drawing and watercolor on paper - ”The Responsible One!... – Anti-Nazi satirical scene – 1945 Pencil drawing and watercolor on paper illustrating a symbolic and committed scene against the Nazi regime at the end of the Second World War. In the center of the composition a bare-breasted woman with one leg and her left arm amputated points at Adolf Hitler. She is carried by a group of soldiers of different nationalities advancing in solidarity towards the dictator cowering under a flickering swastika pierced by the Allied flags (France USSR United Kingdom United States). A menacing polar bear accompanies the group's march accentuating the allegorical force of the scene. The work is signed top right (unidentified signature) and dated 1945.
