Violent satirical scene illustrating the mechanical and blind march of German soldiers (identifiable by their Wehrmacht uniforms) led by a pot-bellied officer crossing without reaction the bloodied body of a civilian victim lying on the ground. The title ”Justice” takes on an ironic meaning here highlighting the inhumanity of the Nazi regime through a scathing critique. The work is dated 1945 and is part of a group of drawings produced in the immediate post-war period in an incisive and expressive style probably intended for publication or to illustrate a pamphlet. Dimensions: 51.5 × 71.5 cm Used condition.”
