She is surrounded by three muscular boxers in the colors of the United States (star-spangled pants) the United Kingdom (emblem on the shoulder) and the USSR (hammer and sickle) watching the scene with suspicion or defiance. In the background other pathetic figures identifiable as representatives of the fallen Axis powers (Nazi pants figures on the ground) crawl or drag themselves around looking defeated. The work dated 1945 and signed top right plays on the codes of the grotesque and political satire to denounce the horrors of war and the ambiguities of the new world order. Dimensions: 75 × 53 cm.”
