The cover was printed for the Georges Flouty Company of Beirut, Lebanon (Maison Georges Flouty, Beyrouth, Liban). It is affixed with a series of five Syrian stamps issued for the proclamation of the unity of Syria (”Proclamation de l'Unité Syrienne”), on the official date of the proclamation (January 20, 1942). Each stamp shows a map of Greater Syria and a small portrait of a president, and the inscription appears in French and Arabic. The stamps have different values: 1, 4, 6, 10 and 20 Syrian francs. The stamps are stamped with official round stamps from the central post office in Damascus (DAMAS), with the date of sending the envelope – April 1, 1943. On the right side of the envelope is an official registration label (”Registered”, No. 2997), and an official purple inspection stamp of the British censor appears (with the British crown, and the inscription ”PASSED”, passed inspection).
