The envelope bears the hotel's return address: Yamashita-cho Naka-ku, Yokohama. The envelope is stamped with a special red Japanese stamp depicting figures of Japanese farmers engaged in agriculture, with a face value of 1 yen, and on the lower right side is an official Yokohama city registered delivery label (YOKOHAMA No. A55). The stamp is stamped with a round Yokohama postmark dated March 25, 1941. The envelope bears an airmail sticker (PAR AVION) in English and Japanese. On the left side of the envelope is a red British censorship label (”OPENED BY CENSOR”), indicating that the envelope was opened for postal inspection during World War II. Reverse A beautiful set of 12 colored Japanese stamps from the Japanese Empire, with illustrations of landscapes, historical buildings and religious sites in Japan, including: Mountains and natural landscapes (stamps in denominations of 2, 4 and 20 sen). Buddha statue (stamp in denomination of 1 yen). A typical Japanese gate (”tori”) on a red stamp (10 sen). The stamps are postmarked with Yokohama postmarks with a clear date of March 25, 1941, and have the red British censorship label, which is reversed from the front. There is also a clear Tel Aviv arrival postmark (”REGISTERED TEL-AVIV”) with the date April 6, 1941. Excellent condition Condition as seen in the photos
