The envelope is from the company ”Maison Georges Flouty” of Beirut, Lebanon, with a commercial stamp at the top. The envelope is affixed with an official Syrian stamp set issued to commemorate the ”Proclamation of Syrian Unity” (Proclamation de l'Unité Syrienne), with an issue date of January 20, 1942. The set includes 5 stamps in different colors and denominations: 1 piastre, 4 piastres, 8 piastres, 10 piastres, and 20 piastres. All stamps feature a map of Syria and the image of the Syrian President, Taj ad-Din al-Husni. Circular postmarks of ”DAMASCUS” dated May 1, 1942.
