Greece - 1,000 Drachmai banknote of the National Bank of Greece, dated November 4, 1926 - with red Bank of Greece overprint - Greece - 1,000 Drachmai banknote of the National Bank of Greece, dated November 4, 1926 - with red Bank of Greece overprint Dimensions: 193 x 93 mm Description: Greek banknote denominated 1,000 Drachmai, issued by the National Bank of Greece / Εθνική Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος, dated November 4, 1926. The front features a central portrait, the denomination 1000 on both sides, red serial number, Greek inscriptions, signatures of the officials, and a diagonal red overprint of the Bank of Greece / Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος. The back features an illustration of the Lion Gate at Mycenae, classical columns, the denomination 1000 in several places, decorative ornaments, and the inscription “Έκδοσις Πέμπτη” - Fifth Issue. The banknote was printed by the American Bank Note Company, as indicated in the lower margin of the note. This note belongs to the Greek issues of the 1920s, during the transitional period between the National Bank of Greece and the Bank of Greece. Condition: VF Condition as shown in the photos.
