The front features the inscription Bilet Polskiej Krajowej Kasy Pożyczkowej, the denomination Pięć Marek Polskich, the Polish eagle emblem at the top, red serial number, signatures of the officials, and decorative green ornaments on a light pinkish background. The back features the denomination 5 in the center, the inscription Marek Polskich, a richly decorated frame, and a portrait of Bartosz Głowacki on the right - a Polish historical figure associated with the Kościuszko Uprising in the late 18th century. A warning against counterfeiting and circulating forged banknotes appears at the bottom of the back. The banknote belongs to the first issues of Poland after World War I, during the establishment of the Second Polish Republic and the formation of the local currency system after years of partition and foreign rule. These notes preceded the later Polish currency reforms and represent an important historical item from the transitional period of renewed Polish independence.
