Japanese Carved Card Case, Meiji Period, 19th Century, Signed - A rectangular Japanese card case, finely carved in organic material, from the Meiji period (1868–1912). The front depicts a detailed high-relief scene of figures in kimono, while the reverse is adorned with cherry blossoms, utensils, and a Japanese signature. The sliding lid opens to reveal a compartment, likely used for storing calling cards or small documents. An exquisite example of Meiji-era Japanese craftsmanship with refined and intricate carving.
