Visible markings on the bezel include ”TYPE 06.”, ”AFT”, ”No 16287 D.”, ”6A/0473”, and a prominent ”AM” symbol beneath a crown, indicative of British Air Ministry provenance. The compass is housed within a fitted, painted wooden case with a visible canvas strap. A separate grey metal component with a wooden handle, likely a sighting scope or control, is stored within a dedicated cutout in the case. The interior of the wooden case features custom-cut wooden inserts and degraded padding, with a repurposed ”DELICIOUS... CARAMEL / Airdrie Scotland” cardboard liner used as internal packing material.
