A RUSSIAN GENERAL HANS FAESI OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING, 19 C.
A period Russian painting depicting General Hans Casper Faesi (1795-1848). There is a label on the verso marked restoration April 26, 1968, by Marcel J. Gibrat, NY and another label that reads Gemhalt A 1831/ von Moschovsky. Unsigned. My research shows Gen Faesi was commissioned a major in Military Service after taking part in the campaign & occupation of Fortress Huenigen in 1815. He was promoted to the rank s of Brigadier General in 1830-1831 in the Russian army.
Dimensions: 30 x 40 in, (76 x 101.5 cm.)
Condition: The painting is in the original frame that shows some damage and repair with minor age imperfections.
