A CAUCASIAN KINJAL DAGGER IN SILVEER MOUNTS, 19TH CEN.
With a straight double-edged pointy blade with one fuller on each side, with a carved hilt composed of two scales decorated in a suit with the scabbard silver mounts. The scabbard is covered with black leather and decorated with niello silver fittings.The blade is inscribed by the bladesmith. For a similar dagger signed by a Chechen craftsman who worked in Vladikavkaz please see Kirill Rivkin's "Arms and Armor of Caucasus", 2015, fig. 207, p.297.Vladikavkaz, North Caucasus, late 19th century.
