A RUSSIAN ORTHODOX ICON OF ST. NICHOLAS, 19TH CENTURY.
Russian Orthodox icon showing St. Nicholas with Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary on the sides. Hand-painted in tempera and gold leaf on a wood panel with kovcheg borders. The background is ornately incised and the corners are painted with polychrome patterns in faux enamel.
Russian, circa 1870.
12 1/4 x 10 1/2 in., (31 x 27 cm.)
Condition: The icon appears to be in good condition. A few minor scratches and paint losses. Expected signs of age and wear.
