A POLENOV OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING, RUSSIAN - Vasili Dmitrievich Polenov's (1844-1927) oil on canvas painting titled ”The Hut”. On the verso are Polenov's studio stamp and various numerals in ink and pencil. Vasily Dmitrievich Polenov (1844-1927) was a Russian landscape artist associated with the Peredvizhniki art movement. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts and was elected a member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1893. For many years, he coached young painters in the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. His pupils included Abram Arkhipov, Isaac Levitan, Konstantin Korovin, and Alexandre Golovine.
