A JAPANESE BRONZE VASE WITH 'OSHIDORI' DUCKS, MEIJI PERIOD - A Japanese gilt bronze vase from the Meiji period. The vase features a cylindrical, slightly tapered neck with two curved zoomorphic handles on the sides. The body of the vase is decorated with a gilt relief image of two 'Oshidori' mandarin ducks. Openwork round base. In Japanese culture, mandarin ducks symbolize marriage, fidelity, absolute devotion, and family happiness. Meiji Japan, c. 20th century. Dimensions: H: 8 3/4 in., (22.2 cm.)
