AN AUGUSTE CAIN LARGE BRONZE STATUE OF A SPHINX, 1900 - Auguste Cain, a large bronze statue of an eagle sitting on he head of a Sphinx. Mounted on a green marble base. Has a Susse Freres editeurs Paris signature on the back. Auguste Cain (1821-1894) was a French sculptor of the Animaliers school. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1846 and exhibited 38 models there throughout his career. Dimensions: H: 20 1/2 in., (52.1 cm.) Please make all inquiries before bidding.
